U Pick Citrus

AJ's teammate Tim has been staying with us this week (our first visitor! yay!)
He has been staying at the team hotel, so he hasn't had a kitchen. Since he missed cooking, he has cooked a fabulous meal every night. Last night's menu consisted of steak, shrimp, cous cous, mashed potatoes, and squash. After dinner, he puts together left overs in a container for me to take to work.
Oh and... He likes to clean the kitchen.
Can we keep him?

Since we moved here, we've been seeing homemade garage sale signs that say "U PICK CITRUS" with an arrow. We didn't exactly know how far from the sign we would need to go, but yesterday we ventured out to find the citrus. It was a cute farm with miles of orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit trees. They say "fill up a bucket!" for $10. Yes please! We promptly juiced oranges when we got home and it was glorious.

We also found a toy cadillac in the garage and decided to take it for a spin around the neighborhood. I'm thinking next week I'll take it to the pool.

Weekend

70's and sunny all week as I sat inside a classroom and learned about NCH Hospital.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday= clouds & rain
We had big plans with the pool and the citrus farm!
I suppose I shouldn't be mad about having to stay inside in January. Hope you all are cozy by a fireplace in freezing Minnesota right now. We escaped just in time.

This week I have 3 days with a preceptor on my unit and then I'm on my own! Scary stuff. I am now understanding why they call it the "Mayo bubble." I was a sheltered princess nurse ;)

Last feat of the weekend is a haircut + bath for little miss Willa Jane. We'll see how this goes...

Settling in

We've been settling into our new home this week and it's still a little messy so no pictures *quite* yet. We ventured out to the beach today and loved getting a little Florida sun on our Minnesota skin. AJ has been working out at the Twin's complex every morning and I'm enjoying my last week without work!

We've been taking little Willa Jane for her first walks and it usually goes something like the pictures posted below.

1) Walking like a champ
2) Over it, lays down in the middle of the road
...and after a little "come on Willa!"
3) Carried home

We go a little further each time before she lays down so that's progress, right?

Road Trip

On New Years Eve we celebrated two of our best friends getting married. It was an absolutely wonderful day and we couldn't be happier for them. It's going to be really hard to have a New Years that is more fun than that was!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. O'Shea!

The next morning bright and early, err... noon
we started our 27+ hour drive to Florida!

Day 1: MN to Beloit, WI

Don't I have the cutest passenger?

We stopped the first night in Beloit, WI and stayed with AJ's host family from this summer- the Hatch's. We were greeted with a huge prime rib dinner. Did I mention the Hatch's are amazing? It was fun to hang out and catch up with them.

Day 2: Beloit, WI to Chattanooga, TN
Some highlights--

Miniature Washington Monument                    Superman's hometown, Metropolis

Day 3: Tennessee to Estero, FL!
We left at 4:00am (3:00am MN time) so we would beat the Atlanta traffic. Needless to say by 8:00am, our eyelids were very heavy. We may have parked in a empty lot and closed our eyes for 20 minutes. Okay, we did. The most interesting stop of the day was the World's Largest Peanut.

We arrived to our new home in Estero and started unloading our strategically packed cars. When people saw us unpacking our cars they stopped by to say hi and welcome us to the neighborhood. Everyone has been so friendly!

Willa met her future BFF's, our next door neighbors three dogs. A Pitbull, a Greyhound mix, and a German Shepherd mix. She would lay in our lanai all day and gaze at them if we let her (confident when there's a screen between them, of course) They still think she's a rabbit but I think they will be best friends eventually ;)

Pictures of our new place to come soon!
